Oftentimes, it proves quite difficult to obtain the proper permits to legally serve alcohol at an event. Our Bartenders arrive prepared to ready your drinks for service. That may entail un-packing beer and wine and putting it on ice, or pre-mixing 50 signature drinks in preparation for the cocktail hour rush. They will assess your rental, and set up their workstation so that they can move quickly and efficiently in the bar space. Each Bartender will come with their own tools: beer and wine key for beer wine bars, and a basic bar kit for mixed drinks. At the end of the night, your Bartender will ensure rental is re-packed and ready for your rental company to pick up.
We offer Event Bartenders at two price points. One price is set for those bartenders who will use a tip jar during the course of an event, and another rate for those who will NOT. Our certified Event Bartenders understand and implement the laws surrounding the service of alcohol in the state of North Carolina. Some venues require a professional bartender and will not allow family or friends to volunteer. Check with your venue for rules and service requirements.
Bartending Service For Events
As a private client, if you contract us for a full bar (a bar serving liquor as well as beer and wine), you will need to obtain a Limited Special Occasion Permit. You would get this from the ABC Board. Clients contracting an Event Bartender to serve beer and wine only, do not need this permit. Start this process early as it takes time to complete. Entries MUST be submitted at least 2 weeks before your event date. We would recommend beginning well before that. You can APPLY FOR THE PERMIT by following this link.
How Much Is A Bartender For A Wedding
- Staffing (Full Bar): 1 Bartender per every 50 guests with a minimum of 2 staff at all events unless otherwise approved. All staffing events are custom quoted and event dependent. We would love to help serve you!
- Bar Setup Equipment: Approximately $250 per bar. This includes bar tables, linens, coolers, ice, plastic bar ware, beverage napkins, stirrers, display tubs and bar tools. This fee may vary based on the headcount and complexity of your bar.
- Alcohol & Beverage Supplies: See Package Pricing above, and request your quote today!
- ABC Permit: Required for packages containing liquor. $100 to obtain Limited Special Occasion Permit (Wake County). $150 to obtain Limited Special Occasion ABC Permit (Durham & Orange Counties). $200 to obtain a cash bar permit (available for 501(c) 3 non-profits or Political Action Committees ONLY)
- Glassware Rental: Always optional and price varies based on length of service and different types of glassware needed. POUR is more than happy to coordinate and order any bar ware including delivery and pickup. Costs range but begin at $1.50 per glass.
- Service Charge: 18% (taxes, insurance, and coordination) This is not considered gratuity for the POUR staff. There will NOT be a tip jar at your event unless given permission in advance. Gratuity is greatly appreciated but always optional.
